COMPFAIR'21

Since this is my first time joining a big program in UTM which is held for a long period, I was able to achieve three graduate attributes which are leadership and teamworking skills, communication skills, and enterprising skills. I learned that working as a team is really important because all the team members are relying on each other to finish a task. As a leader to my units that I was responsible with, I need to keep in touch and update my unit members daily to ensure that all tasks are running smoothly without any trouble. I also consider and open to their viewpoint and give a better decision to their ideas and questions after discussing with others higher-up committees.

Throughout the program, I was able to improve my communication skills as I needed to communicate with most of the program crews. Since the program was held online, it was a bit difficult for me to communicate and recognize all the program crews. However, I managed to break the difficulties by attending all the meetings and rehearsal to have a full interaction with them. Other than that, I have successfully made a lot of new friends too either from my own batch, senior batches, and junior batch. Thankfully everyone was so friendly that we as a whole team did not find awkward or uncomfortable moments.

Furthermore, we held an entrepreneurship talk and financial literature in this program too. Being a committee member of the program gives me a privilege of joining these entrepreneurship talks as I could gain a lot of useful knowledge that is not being taught in lectures. I learned how to manage a small business that is run by university students as we need to find some side income to survive without depending on the allowance from our parents. I also learned how to manage my own financial accounts and have future financial plans. From these experiences, I became more enthusiastic to join more programs or events in the future to enhance other skills.

Challenges that I faced in the program preparation phase and during the live session of the program is unstable internet connection. I can’t deny this was one of the downsides of holding an online program and everyone would face that. Sometimes I couldn’t bear to join the meeting or rehearsal until the end because of the weather that affects the internet connection. We as a team overcome this problem by having someone write the summary of the meeting or rehearsal on what we discussed and share it in the WhatsApp group so that everyone can refer back from time to time while finishing the tasks.
