Relation between ASIC, FPGA, Embedded system, Bio and DSP in electronic system Engineering.
An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electrical system. It is embedded as part of a complete device often including hardware and mechanical parts. Embedded systems control many devices in common use today. Modern embedded systems are often based on microcontrollers. For instance, CPUs with integrated memory or peripheral interfaces but ordinary microprocessors are also still common, especially in more complex systems.
In either case, the processor used may be types ranging from rather general purpose to very specialized in certain class of computations, or even custom designed for the application at hand. A common standard class of dedicated processors is the digital signal processor (DSP).DSP algorithms have long been run on standard computers, as well as on specialized processors called digital signal processor, and on purpose-built hardware such as application-specific integrated circuit (ASICs).
Application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is a kind of integrated circuit. It is built for a particular use instead of for general-purpose use. Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) is an integrated circuit designed to be configured by a customer after manufacturing. FPGAs are programmable semiconductor devices that are based around a matrix of Configurable Logic Blocks (CLBs) connected through programmable interconnects.
As opposed to Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), where the device is custom built for the particular design, FPGAs can be programmed to the desired application or functionality requirements. FPGAs allow designers to change their designs very late in the design cycle even after the end product has been manufactured and deployed in the field
Bio electronic engineers attempt to combine their knowledge of biological and electrical systems to produce new ways to treat follow the world development. Bioengineers help create and evaluate new technology and improve the understanding of biological systems, which makes them invaluable to the community.
