The system unit includes the casing that holds these components. The display, keyboard, and mouse, for example, are distinct from the system unit. A "workstation" is created when peripherals and the system unit are integrated. The system unit and monitor are combined in certain modern computers, such as the iMac. The monitor is part of the system unit in this situation. Despite the fact that laptops contain built-in monitors, they are not considered system units because the word refers primarily to desktop computers.
