Mini Report

The Code On Weekends Programme provided chances for students to increasing competition in securing jobs among fresh graduates. This programme was held by Chee Wai Lum with the presentor Dr Afnizanfaizal. The programme started from 9.30 a.m. until 12.00 p.m. A total number of 40 participants joined this programme to learn about the Go Language that can be applied to the creation of Artificial Intelligence and the use of the Machine Learning (ML).

The programme aim to give introduction to participants on the one of the best trends in the future, GoLang, which is a eay-understandable programming language compared with other languages.

During the lesson, Dr Afnizanfaizal exposed and explained the basics of Golang and introduced two systems which both were coded by using Golang. The first system was a ML system that was able to read handwritten numbers by training the system with plenty of examples of handwritten images and then it identified the stated number whereas the other system was an AI system which was able to do sentiment analysis based on the given reviews.

The programme involves graduate attribute such as communication skills. Communication skills is important for me to communicate or ask questions which I am not confident on.

Overall,  as a participant, I am not only exposed to the fundamentals of Golang but they were also able to understand the operation of AI and ML systems by using Golang and this may broaden their coding experience.

Self-Reflection

Personally, I am happy with the programme as I had learnt a new programming language, GoLang, which can help in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning field. At the same time, I am glad as this programme help me to gain a lot of useful insights.

Through this programme, besides then learning a new programming language, I also gained the graduate attribute which is the communication skill. This skill was learnt through the communication with other participants and also the presentor as I would need to explain what I am not clear enough, so that they can help me with my understanding.

My strength is that I can give attention on the presentor when he was presenting on the basic of GoLang. This strength helps me to catch up with the presentor's flow quickly.

The challenges that I faced in this programme is that I am lacking of coding skill needed. However, this challenges can be overcame by practicing on the programming learning frequently.

I think that I can improve myself by learning more about the Golang so that I am able to use it more deeply.
