From today's lesson, I Learned about self-discrepancy which means for those who had the ambition that the targets must be realistic and can achieve it. if they going to fall, they must motivate themselves and stand again. There are also had four factors shaping the self-concept as One's own observations, Feedback from others, Social Context, and Cultural values. One's own observation is social comparison theory process that individual compare themselves with others in order to access their ability and opinion, they need to deserve themself. Feedback from others means individuals' self-concept is shaped significantly by the feedback they get from important people In lives. For social context is receiving feedback from others reveals that the self-concept does not develop in isolation, so does the social context where interactions occur. Lastly, Culture Values also is a factor that shapes the self-concept. When individuals meet cultural expectations, they feel about themselves and experience an increase in self-esteem. it also defined what is desirable and undesirable in personality and behavior.
Besides that, self-esteem divides into two types which are good self-esteem and low self-esteem. people with good self-esteem will feel liked and accepted themselves, proud of what they do, and believe in themselves; it compares people with low self-esteem will feel bad about themselves, hard on themselves, and think not good enough themselves.
Self-esteem is used to describe a person's overall sense of self-worth or personal value. it involves a variety of beliefs about themself, such as an appraisal of their own appearance beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. Self-Esteem also plays a significant role in our motivation and success throughout our life, so we need to have healthy self-esteem to make sure can help us to achieve because navigate life with a positive.
