SECP1513 Reflection
I have learnt a lot from this project especially about cloud computing, low fidelity mockups and the process of creating a business. I learnt how AWS Architecture works, and I am able to identify which AWS services will be beneficial for our project. Next, I learnt how to use Figma, a popular website for fidelity prototype creation. This project also taught me a lot about entrepreneurship. I also have improved my teamworking, creativity and critical thinking skills in order to create this project successfully.
There are several motivations for me to complete this project. Firstly, the project contributes about 21% of my carry mark for the subject. I am motivated to get the best mark for this project, to get a good overall result from this subject. My next motivation is from my teammates. They helped me a lot throughout this project and since we share the same mark for this project, I don’t want to disappoint them. Thus, I am motivated and want to do my best for this project, so all of us get the best mark possible for this project. Lastly, my motivation to complete this project comes from myself. I knew in order to be a good developer, website designing and cloud computing is a vital component, thus I want to gain the most out of this project.
There are several issues that we stumbled upon when doing this project. The first issue is when we want to do our discussion. Since everything is online, discussing the project can be a hassle. This is because our free time are not the same, different timeline and different learning schedule. Therefore, our solution for this problem is some of the discussion meetings were rescheduled for everyone to attend it. The next issue is our project is quite complicated. There are so many modules and submodules that we need to implement, in order for this project to be a success. Our solution is we put a ton of effort in order to successfully finish this project. At one point, we discussed about the project until midnight (around 12.00 am). Overall, we did all of our discussions and we are able to finish everything successfully before the deadline.
My direction after this project is I will focus more for my next semester and final examinations. Since I already has some basic knowledge about fidelity prototyping and cloud computing, I will apply this knowledge for future projects. I also want to learn more about cloud computing and system development in the future. There are some parts in this project that I don’t fully understand and I will work hard to become better in system development, cloud computing and project completion.
I think I will need to improve my teamworking skills by to improve my potential in the industry. Especially for industry related to creating a system, website and application, teamworking skills is really important. Next, I will also involve more in project creation, self-learning and getting online certificate to improve my potential in the industry. By doing so, I am able to branch my potential career more, maybe in the future I can become a cloud computing architect or a DevOps developer or a software application specialist and many more career paths.
Industrial Talk 7 is about Data Visualization. In industrial talk #7, Mr. Isma Redha from it gave us an introduction to data visualization using Microsoft Power BI. Mr. Isma also showed us how to import data into Microsoft Power BI to analyze and visualize them in different ways and how to publish our report to power BI. And then, we were required to create an online dashboard report and need to publish the dashboard online. You can view our dashboard online by clicking here or view it under here:
I learned about how information can be visualized in several ways like trends, outliers, and correlations which provide specific insights. The most popular chart types are bar chart, pie chart, line chart, scatterplot chart, bubble chart, and heat map variations. I also learned about seven types of data relationships which are: nominal comparison, time series, correlation, ranking, deviation, distribution, and part-to-whole relationships. Overall, the assignment taught me a lot about data visualization and it will definitely benefits me a lot during my study or workplace.
There are two industrial talk that we need to attend, Industrial Talk 5 and Industrial Talk 6. For industrial talk 5, it is about Smart Campus : The Journey Starts Here by COMMSCOPE MALAYSIA. Next industrial talk is industrial talk 6, is about 5G, WIFI6, and Emerging Network Technologies. We were required to make a magazine, and here is our magazine cover page. The full file can be downloaded at the 'Files to Download' section.
From the industrial talk 5, I learned that remote working is the trend of working mode nowadays and people started to look for network security because of the hackers who penetrate the network or IoT devices. I also learned that the smart campus will also be the look in the future in which students will experience smart cities and smart homes at the same time on the campus. Next, I learned that when IoT solutions become automated and able to self-optimizing, it will be much easier for network professionals to solve the troubleshooting or even the systems are able to troubleshoot on their own. I am motivated to support the development of smart campus, smart city and smart home in order to bring our country to become more modern and efficient.
Next, for industrial talk 6 about network technologies, I learned that the fifth generation of wireless technology systems is known as 5G. It has quicker speeds than any prior generation. For example, consumers can download movies within seconds compared to4G. This is because of Low latency allows data streams to be sent more quickly. I am motivated to learn more about 5G, and fully supports the implementation of 5G in our daily life. A life with lightning quick internet speed would be really efficient.
There are two industrial talk for this assignment, which are 3rd Industrial Talk: AWS (Amazon Web Services) and 4th Industrial Talk: Augmented Reality by OZEL Sdn Bhd. For AWS talk, Dr. Qusay talked about cloud computing (Cloud computing is the on-demand delivery of computer power, database, storage, applications. Next, for the Augmented Reality Talk, Dr. Ruzimi gave a talk about Augmented Reality, the core concept of it and he stated during the presentation that one of the challenges with Augmented Reality (AR) in Malaysia is internet connectivity.
This is the newsletter that we did.
From the industrial talk 3, I learned that cloud computing such as AWS enables us to think and use our infrastructure as software delivered to us, rather than traditional hardware infrastructure. AWS also gives us the customization to handle service efficiently. As an example, AWS has significantly reduced the user and developer's workload by using the service provided by Amazon. AWS is flexible, has a secure cloud platform, requires no space and provision. I am also motivated and excited to enroll in AWS Academy Cloud Foundation after watching the industrial talk. I am convinced that AWS Academy Cloud Foundation will help students a lot, to gain a better and deeper understanding of how AWS works. In conclusion, cloud computing service provider like AWS is the utility and future of our life that will increase efficiency, especially for company and developers.
For the industrial talk 4, I learnt that AR is one of the most popular technical trends right now, and as AR-capable smartphones and other devices become more widely available, it will only grow in popularity. It is a
technologically augmented depiction of the real physical world that is made possible by the use of digital visual components, music, or other sensory stimulation. It can also, for example, assist medical students in
practising a surgical operation with low risk. AR can also assist people in determining the size of our furniture so that it will fit
exactly in our home. In a nutshell, our country must be ready to adapt to technological developments in order to benefit the public.
In week 14, (20 January 2022) sir Hairudin held a short meeting and showed us our carry mark for Quiz 1, Quiz 2 and Mid Term Examination. I was pretty happy with my Quiz 1 mark. For Mid Term Exam marks, it was okay although I hope I got A/A+ marks but I ended up with A-, which is not bad considering the examination was pretty tough. But for Quiz 2 my marks was pretty bad, I got 2 out of 5 marks. This motivates me to do my best in the rest of assignments and projects to get the best result and achieve 4.0 GPA. After that, sir Hairudin also held a QnA session to answer students' question about project and assignment.
In week 13 (13 January 2022), sir gave us a brief explanation about project 2 (low fidelity prototype) and assignment 4. We had some QnAs session about the project and assignment. After the class, we group 6 did a discussion about the assignment 4 and low fidelity prototype project 2.
Week 11 class (30 December) was supposed to be our last class for 2021. But unfortunately a flash flood incident happened and affected a lot of UTM students. And the university decided to postpone the lecture to give room for students who were affected by the flood and who involved with the Flood Relief Programme.
Week 12 (6 January 2022) was our first TIS class for the New Year !!! Happy New Year 2022 !! \(^O ^ )/
During this class, Sir Hairudin taught us chapter 12, System Analysis and Design and chapter 13, Programming and Languages. The lecture was a bit confusing, especially for the System Analysis and Design since it contains a lot of flowcharts and hierarchy of system analysis and design. But it was pretty fun, to learn new information. For the chapter 13, it was pretty simple since I have some experience and knowledge about programming Language. This class was also the last class for sir Hairudin to teach us syllabus from the lecture notes, since our lecture only consists of 13 chapters.
In week 10 (23 December 2021), we learnt chapter 10 (Information Systems) and chapter 11 (Databases). The lecture was normal and I learnt a lot of knowledge from the lecture. I learnt about functional view of an organization, management levels, different sytems in organization, difference between physical and logical views of data, database models and many more. To be honest, the lecture was really interesting especially for the information systems chapter. I got to know about the levels and positions in an organization and it really open my eyes about how working in a company in the future will be like.
Class was cancelled and me and my team took the opportunity to discuss our assignment and project. We discussed about the low fidelity prototype project for a couple hours and reached to conclusion after everyone reach an agreement and we also divided the task properly. The discussion also went really smoothly.
It was a mid semester break for students. I did some revision for the upcoming Midterm test in Sunday, 12 December 2021. Other than that, I also did some self study for the AWS Cloud Foundation.
