The Probability and Statistical Data Analysis course was one of the most exciting course this semester. In this course we had to do two projects. In project-1 we worked with data type, box plot, bar chart , histogram and more. Most of these I was already a little bit familiar with. This project was exciting as we needed to gather our own data via questionnaire but Project-2 was a lot different.
In project-2 we worked with hypothesis testing, correlation, regression and chi square test of independence. I was not familiar with these topics at all so I was a bit nervous. But, with the help of our wonderful course lecturer Dr. Sharin all these concepts became clear for me so I started working on the project. At first I needed to find a dataset with which me and my team. It took a lot of time to find a dataset with which we can work with. In the end I picked a dataset related to "In Hospital Mortality Rate" of the patient in the ICU. The next step was to perform the tests with this data set but it had more than 1100 data so I had to process it and take it down to about 400. We worked with Age, gender, Diabetes, Systolic blood pressure, Diastolic blood pressure and Respiratory rate. We used R Script to perform the hypothesis 1 sample test, Regression, Correlation and chi square test of independency. We found out that the mean age of the patient in the ICU was above 70 years old, the relationship between the heart rate and systolic blood pressure was a weak negative relationship and we also found that In general men don’t have better chances of getting affected by diabetes than females.
To conclude this project was exciting, fun and very useful for us as we learned to use the topics learned at this course in real life. In the future I can use these analysis techniques to prove my statement or hypothesis in real life scenarios. Also it definitely helped me gain a new skill which was R scripts language. It was really enjoyable to work with this programming language. Hopefully I will get work on a project like this again in the future .
A.summary of what you have gained from completing the course (get a badge)
Throughout this AWS course I have a lot of things about cloud services and how they work. Specially about aws cloud service as they gave us tutorial about many of their services like AWS Lambda, Amazon EC2.AWS EBS and more.
- Your motivation to complete this project?
My main motivation throughout this AWS course was to learn as much as can about cloud services. Cause it will come in handy sooner or later.
- Your opinion whether getting the badge is easy or difficult? Which modul is the easiest/most difficult?
Getting the badge was not that hard. It took a long time to complete but it was worth it. For me the easiest module was from module 1-3 cause they didn’t have any lab and these 3 module was just introduction to cloud services, AWS cost & bill management and about their global infrastructure.
- What’s a badge worth?
Since they gave us a badge for completing this course of course it has its value. It shows that we have enough knowledge to work with a cloud services.
- Feedback whether getting the badge improve your knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing
Of course getting the badge improved my knowledge about cloud computing. Before I only knew about the definition of how a cloud services work but while getting this badge I got to see how actually the cloud computing works and why it is more convenient for companies.
- Your opinion whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?
I think it depends on the company’s business and its size. But I would suggest them to move to cloud computing as it reduces a lot of the cost. So, they can use the saved money on other resourses.
- Your opinion whether every computer science/UTM student should learn Cloud Computing (get the AWS badge?).
I think every computer science student should learn about cloud computing. As they are the future entrepreneur so when they open their own company they can use cloud services easily. Also knowledge is power so learning about cloud computing will help them sooner or later.
- Any advice to your friends who have not get the AWS badge yet?
I would advise them to complete this course and get the badge. You don’t have to do it all at once. You can just learn 1 module per week if you are struggling with your studies. Also better to do it in semester break then you won’t have worry about attending class or completing assignments.
- What is your direction after completing the badge?
After completing the badge I am more interested about cloud computing. So I would like to do some research and gain more knowledge about it. Also when I build a company or a business of my own I will surely use cloude services as it has its perks.
- Your opinion about getting the AWS badge that is included in SECP1513 subject?
SECP-1513 had too much assignment to be honest and to add a completely another course is too much load for the students because they have other courses to worry about. But overall this AWS course was usefull. I would just say that if they reduced the No of assignments than including the aws badge with the course is all right.
This Course was really fun. I got to learn a lot about the hardwire & software system, how a database work, cloud computing , system analysis & design etc. Basically we learned all about how does any digital devices work. One interesting Aspect was the AWS course. This was really fun. I got to learn how a cloud base system works so that more and more companies can shift to cloud services. But the most enjoyable part was all the Industry Talk we had attend. i learned a lot from the speakers. I learned more about Industry revolution 4, Wi-Fi -6,5G mobile network, Augmented reality, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality etc. But the most useful among them all was to learn form the former UTM students about what to focus on during our bachelor and what to expect after graduation. This course also increased my ability to make Newsletter, Poster, mind map, Article etc. But to be honest This course was a rollercoaster ride for me, exciting but very stressful because of all the assignments and projects. Thanks to Dr. Izyan for being patient with us and helping us a long this whole journey.
