EMF FUN RUN 2020 /
Adaptability skills

Mini Report

EMF Fun Run was held 6th March 2020. The run was held at Stadium Azman Hashim UTM. The main objective of the run is to increase awareness for the community to the importance of preserving endangered animal species in Malaysia. Another purpose is to promote healthy body for participators by running. One of the graduate attributes that was correlated in this activity is adaptability. As a student, they will need to adapt to new environment in this activity that is very different from the learning environment. While learning environment demands a large commitment in thinking, this activity demands a large portion of physical commitment. It can be hard to adjust and compete in the 5KM run if the participant does not familiar with the intense and exhausting activity. Another attribute that correlates with this activity was also communication skills. This is because the activity was took part by more than three hundred participants, involves a lot of interaction between participants and also because the track is long and exhausting, many participants made new friends in a new manner that allows the development of this skill. All participant will be expected to gain new experience and has increased awareness on the endangering animal species after the program.

Reflection

It was a busy week when I took part on the EMF Run program, but I took part in it any ways. It is because I felt that I have not took part in any physically intense activity in that semester and joining it might be a good challenge for me. Even though I knew that the chance of me winning this run is very small, I set my aim for the first place, nevertheless. I thought that this mindset will enable me to push myself to my limits in this run because I wanted to face a new type of challenge in this activity that is very different from the mental challenge in my studies. It was very challenging for me to push myself all the way through the track and to not give up. I have to adapt myself with this new challenging condition and think of ways to stabilize my breathing, to preserve some of my energy for the last sprint and to create new thoughts to strengthen my mind from giving up. I also communicate and made many new friends along the way because they also facing the same challenge as I am and facing the challenge together made the run more fun for me. It was truly a satisfying challenge at the end, and I realized that this challenge can not only be benefited from physical intense activities but also to my studies. I will try to apply the same mindset and effort in other parts of my life that I wanted to pursue and improve.
