Mini Report

GEO-INSPIRE NATURE CAMP 2020 (GEOINC'20) are program Cleaning the beach is one of the programs in service-learning. this is the only initiative to help people clean the beach. The Geoinspire Nature Camp (GEOINC) 2020 program is a Top Bidder program organized by the Geoinformatics Club, UTM was held on 7 March 2020 at the Basketball Court, KRP, and 12 March 2020 in Desaru, Johor Bahru. This activity is joined by all years who take Geoinformatics specialty. This activity lasted a few days, the first day we had to do mudball. Mudball can be defined as a mixture of EM (Effective Microorganisms) and BMO (Nutrient Microorganisms) solution containing many microorganisms including bacteria, bacteria, and phototropic lactic acid. When these mud balls are used, they cause the formation of microflora in the water, which forms the basis of river and ocean ecosystems. Water will be indirectly cleaned through the food chain from plankton and small fish. Besides, another definition of mud ball is a product used to eliminate all bacteria and germs in the water regardless of river, sea, or fishpond. The second day we went to Desaru to throw mudball. Apart from that, the cleaning around the sea area was also cleaned. The participants were divided into 10 groups. Each group consisted of 12 participants. The participants were divided into two places, namely the beach and the cemetery to collect garbage in the area.

Self-Reflection

From the activities, I can conclude that this activity is very important, and it can help the environment because the disposal of domestic waste such as plastics can affect flora and fauna especially aquatic life. As geographic students, we must have valued the loving environment by caring for it. The value, not just that, the value we can apply in the individual is responsible. For example, in the sea, we can see so much plastic waste and there are marine animals that die because of that garbage. When we do this activity, it can make that place clean from waste and protect flora and fauna there. We can’t clean a whole world, but we can change a little bit. When the beach area is clean, it more attracts not just animals but attracts humans too. This activity also helps to fertilize the soil and conserve plants on the beach and sea such as coral reefs and seaweeds. If all people in the whole world have this value, the world can change to more beautiful and the big issue like climate change is not going to happen.
