Justification in joining the activity
I joined the activity because as an SECR student, I wanted to participate in activities held by my course, not only as a participant but also as the committee member that directly involve in the provision of the activity. I wanted to know the seniors in SCSR family and gain more knowledge about the process in holding an event.
The Graduate Attributes that are focused on
Communication skills is one of the attributes that are focused on for this event. By joining this event, I had to communicate with the lecturers, the seniors, and my fellow classmates to ensure a smooth ride for the event. Other than that, adaptability attribute was also focused on as this event involved all SECR/SCSR students and lecturers, thus I had to adapt with working alongside a variety range of ages. Finally, leadership and teamworking skills also plays a big role for the success of the event. There are many people involved as the committee member of the event and the work was divided fairly among the team. So as a team member that need to ensure the fruits and drink were always available, my team members and I take turns in loading the drink and fruits into their respecting container throughout the event.
Content of the activity
The event was held on Saturday, 6th March 2020. The aim of this event was to tighten the relationship of SECR/SCSR students and lecturers. The spring cleaning was held before and after the main event where the committee members including me need to prepare the dishes, fruits, drinks, venue and vehicles to go to the venue. The main event is having BBQ with some quizzes and lucky draws with SECR/SCSR students and lecturers.
The program was tiring but fun nevertheless. This program give me the opportunity to communicate with my seniors and lecturers because we need to prepare for the main program together. Other than that, it also gives me the ability to adapt with the situation and people because the committee members consists of not only first year student, but also the second, third and fourth year student. Finally, my teamworking skills was enhanced as we work as a team and in need of toleration for the success of the program.
Other than the listed attributes develop above, I also learn quite few things regarding the need of active skills such as cooking. As the program is mainly about BBQ and diner for the SECR/SCSR students and lecturer, I help in regards of things related to fruit and drinks such as making drinks and chopping fruits.
the challenge that I had to face in the program is the strictness of Ms. Marina regarding the time management but because of that, I lessen my tardiness and I learned that time management is very important when we are holding a program.
