Leadership and Teamworking Skills

We departed to Zoo Johor at 8 am in the morning from UTMJB. It took 30 minutes to arrive at the Zoo Johor. As we arrived there, we started with some briefing from the organiser (KLKM) and the zoo representative about what the program is about and what are the dos and don’ts. During the briefing, rain poured heavily. So, we decided to wait till the rain calmed. After 1 hour, the rain stopped, and we were asked to start the activity. We were given a bread and mineral water from the organiser before starting the activities. It took us about 3 hours to complete all the desire tasks from the zoo as example cleaning the animals cage and feed the animals. After done all of the tasks, we gathered and ate lunch together. After zohor prayer, the organiser held some games for the participants. The games required us (participants) to explore and run all over the zoo in order to complete the games. After finished with the games, it is the giving prize ceremony. Then we headed back to UTM and arrived at UTM at 6pm.

As for my reflection, this was my first time joining a volunteer activity. I was really excited to help the zoo to achieve a better surrounding for the visitor and also the animals. I learnt a lot about doing task in teamwork as doing a big task by our own self will consumed a lot of time to complete. I met new people there as I didn’t plan on joining this activity with my friend. And also it has been awhile since I haven’t come to a zoo. Watching the animals actively played around made me happy as well. I am very happy that I grabbed this chance to do volunteer works for a zoo.
