1) MINI REPORT

Justification in joining the activity:

I joined this activity because I wanted to learn how to do a live broadcast by using the OBS software. Since the pandemic started, a lot of online programs like a live session broadcast with panels have been organized and I’ve always wondered how the whole process of making a live broadcast works. When I watched those live broadcasts, they amazed me as they look like programs that you can see on television as aspect like the graphics are very professional-like. As many programs in the future will be based online, I thought it was a good opportunity to join this program as I have zero experience in doing a live broadcast.    

The Graduate Attributes that are focused on:

The attribute that is related to this activity is leadership and teamworking skills. This is because in this activity, the participants were able to interact effectively with others to achieve common objectives, which were to do a live broadcast by using OBS software. The participants were encouraged to ask questions and exchange ideas to create a good live broadcast.

Content of the activity:

A day before the activity day, the participants were given the link to download the OBS Studio software on our own laptops to make sure everyone is ready on the activity day. Other than that, we were also given a file containing various pictures to be used during the activity day. On the activity day, the participants joined the Google Meet session thru the given link. One of the Kelab Iqra’s members lead the activity with a prayer to hope for the activity to run smoothly without any interruptions. The first sharing session was conducted by Amal Solehah, the vice president of Kelab Iqra’ UTM. She taught us from the very basics of doing a live broadcast to a professional way. During the sharing session, the participants were encouraged to follow everything that Amal did to keep up with her and understand it better. The second sharing session was conducted by Muaz Bin Amir Nur Rashid. He shared a few tips and tricks on how to use OBS Studio easier. Other than that, he also taught us about scene management and transition as these are very important when doing a live broadcast to make sure that the programs run perfectly. The program ended at noon but the participants are welcomed to ask any questions in the WhatsApp group as there are a lot of things that cannot be covered in this activity.

2) SELF-REFLECTION

Joining this activity gives a good impact on my development of Graduate Attributes. I was shy to join the Google Meet session at first as I don’t know anyone who were joining this activity other than my friend. However, the participants were all very welcoming and they made me comfortable to ask any questions. I know that in order to learn, I have to put my shyness aside. Before this activity, I was always the quiet one in a group discussion. I had many ideas and questions, but I tend to just keep quiet about it or I messaged them on the WhatsApp group. Now, I am more confident in having a discussion with my classmates who I don’t really know as I reminded myself in order to learn, I have to be honest to myself and other people.

I gained new knowledge that is very useful by joining this activity. This knowledge can help me in doing a good live broadcast. In the future, when I joined any program as a crew, I can volunteer to be in the multimedia unit and use my knowledge to make sure the program run smoothly. Not only that, I can also use my knowledge to create my own personal live broadcast for my Youtube channel in the future.

The challenge that I faced in this activity was when my Internet connection suddenly became unstable for a moment. The live sharing session on Google Meet was lagging and I couldn’t listen to what they were saying. I missed some of the steps on starting a Facebook live using OBS Studio and stuck halfway. Thankfully, my friend who was joining this activity did not have any problem with her Internet connection and she heard every steps clearly. She helped me in finishing the last half steps on starting the Facebook live broadcast.
