JELAJAH SRIKANDI 4.0 KOLEJ TUN FATIMAH
1) Program Information
The Student Committee of Tun Fatimah College, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for the 2022/2023 session, in collaboration with Tun Mustapha Residential College, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, organized the Jelajah Srikandi 4.0: Sabah 2023 program from May 4th to May 9th, 2023. The program involved 49 students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sabah. It was successfully held at Kampung Rantai Rosok, Kota Belud, Sabah.

The Jelajah Srikandi program aims to instill volunteerism and humanitarian values in students. This community service initiative provides a platform to benefit villagers through labor, knowledge sharing, and skill development. It inspires local youth to pursue higher education through shared experiences from UTM alumni, promotes healthy living and hygiene awareness, and teaches effective communication in English. Overall, the program fosters creativity, critical thinking, and effective teamwork among participants, enhancing their problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.

The Jelajah Srikandi program is an annual initiative by the Student Committee of Tun Fatimah College, where female students contribute to the community. Besides fostering volunteerism and humanitarianism, this program is also seen as a platform to benefit villagers through labor, knowledge sharing, and skills to help the community. This community service program also inspires young generations in the village to pursue higher education through shared experiences of overcoming university challenges conveyed by UTM alumni. Additionally, the program raises awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and personal hygiene. It also emphasizes the preservation and protection of the environment. Furthermore, English language learning was conducted among the villagers to improve effective communication skills for potential tourist interactions. Overall, eight activities were carried out during this program.
Among the activities conducted were Hygiene Forefront Change, which shared tips on dental hygiene, Funtastic Craft, which involved crafting small wooden sompoton, making rattan butterfly keychains, and batik painting led by the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation, Hi Future, which shared experiences of UTM Alumni, Clean Up, which involved cleaning the river and surrounding village areas, Star Reachers, which exposed villagers to the English language in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology & Education TESL, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, The Fortune Fund, which provided free health check-ups to villagers by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, distribution of donation bags to villagers sponsored by Adabi Sabah Distribution Sdn. Bhd., and catfish care training led by Mrs. Norfazreena Mohd Faudzi, a lecturer from the Borneo Marine Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and lastly, a community event cooking bubur lambuk for distribution to villagers. A foster family system was also implemented throughout the stay of the organizing committee members in Kampung Rantai Rosok to strengthen bonds and communication skills between the committee members and the villagers.
The Hygiene Forefront Change activity involved 50 participants, consisting of children aged 4 to 7 years. For the Funtastic Craft activity, 85 participants took part, organized by the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation. The Hi Future activity involved 30 school students, while the Clean Up activity saw the participation of 30 villagers cleaning the village and river areas. For the Star Reachers activity, 6 students from the Faculty of Psychology & Education TESL, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, taught 12 students aged 12 and 13. A total of 30 village families received donation bags from Adabi for the Fortune Fund activity. The closing ceremony was officiated by Datuk Hj. Mohd Arsad bin Bistari, Member of the State Legislative Assembly, ADUN Tempasuk, involving 200 villagers. A big thank you to the sponsors of the Jelajah Srikandi 4.0: Sabah 2023 program for their contributions, including UTM International, UTM Alumni, Adabi Sabah Distribution Sdn. Bhd., Online Business Mastermind Enterprise, UniKL, Gerid’s Kitchen, and Sufian Cafe. The Jelajah Srikandi 4.0: Sabah 2023 program was also made possible with contributions from UTM International, UTM Alumni, Adabi Sabah Distribution Sdn. Bhd., Online Business Mastermind Enterprise, UniKL, Gerid’s Kitchen, and Sufian Cafe.
The Jelajah Srikandi 4.0: Sabah 2023 program is a community service initiative that has had a significant impact on various parties. It fostered good social relationships and responsible citizenship among community members. It also instilled a spirit of volunteerism among KTF and KKTM students. Villagers were introduced to various knowledge and information such as English language skills, knowledge on pursuing higher education, personal health care, and catfish care. It is hoped that such programs continue to be impactful annual events on a larger scale.
5) Self-Reflection
Participating in Jelajah Srikandi 4.0: Sabah 2023 was a valuable experience that enhanced my sense of volunteerism and humanitarianism. It provided me with practical skills and knowledge to assist the villagers while fostering a sense of social responsibility and effective communication. The program also challenged me to think creatively and critically to solve problems, work collaboratively with team members, and make meaningful contributions to the community. This experience has significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth.
