Graduate Atrributes: Communication Skills, Leadership and Teamworking Skills.
Position/Role: Moderator
Mini Report
I joined the team committee as I wanted to challenge myself as I do not have much experience as a moderator. This programme is an unformal program, so I thought this could be a good platform for a beginner. I was paired with Nur Athirah, and we worked as a duo to ensure our task ran smoothly. We created a script and arranged the flow of the programme so that there would be fewer hiccups. Our team also works together to ensure that the movie runs smoothly without any interruptions, such as internet connection, audio problems, or screen view. We collected students' suggestions on what kind of movie they would prefer on Friday night, and the Google form was blasted a week before. A movie from Netflix was chosen, which is The Red Notice. After the movie ended, the lucky draw and quiz session were held and at the end of the programme, students were happy and enjoyed the show.
Self Reflection
This programme opened me to new communication skills, which I rarely apply. With the help of my partner, I am able to manage my responsibilities as a moderator. This programme was successful because our team worked their best. We collaborated as a team to ensure that there would be no hiccups or interruptions when the movie was played. Our aim is to make sure that students enjoy that night, so if the movie is stuck, it could spoil their mood, and we want to avoid it happening. Our planning was not carried out exactly as planned. For example, there was a little bit of miscommunication that happened when the quiz session was interrupted by the internet connection. With quick communication among our team, we were able to handle it as fast as we could. We were happy and satisfied that, overall, students were enjoying themselves and happy. This programme gave me good experience to learn more.
